design service:
borlaug-industries specializes in functional industrial, commercial, and technological design work. 3d design is offered at 60 USD per hour. customer must be able to specify design to borlaug-industries. borlaug-industries can not assist in product development. customer designs can be specified via hand-drawn sketches with included dimension. Customer can send old blue-prints or professional drafts. designs can be specified via physical parts in working or broken condition. borlaug-industries will measure physical parts using a micrometer and draw using CAD. customers receive all produced CAD work in the following formats: solidworks, STEP214, STL, and 3d rendered PDF. customers can then print with borlaug-industries or another printer, based upon customer printing complexity and needs. print jobs are always contracted separately from design jobs.

to contract a design job, customer must send fully specified design to borlaug industries via email at "borlaug.industries [ at ] gmail [ dot ] com". acceptable file formats are limited to: pdf, jpg, bmp, step, iges, stl. if customer is unsure how to fully specify their design, customers are recommend to hand draw their design on printer paper, include arrows showing dimensions in millimeters (inches acceptable, but please clearly specify), customer should then take a photo of the sketch via cell phone and email the photo. if customer would like their design to be based off of a physical part, customer should send photo of physical part with a ruler, quarter, or dollar bill included in the image and a proposal to physical part to borlaug industries, along with instructions to fully specify customer design. if customer is unable to email fully specified design, customer may request invoice to contract a 30 minute phone consultation at the design rate. customer failure to fully specify design or pay design rate for phone consultation will result in a cessation of design services. if customer attempts to provide a fully specified design, but ultimately provides an ambiguous design, borlaug industries will provide a free 15 minute phone consultation to attempt to aid customer in fully specifying design. free consultation is at borlaug industries' discretion based upon perceived customer effort and expectation to successfully remove ambiguity to produce fully specified design during 15 minute phone call. In all other cases, customer will be offered a 30 minute phone consultation at the standard design rate.

print service:
prints exhibit reliable structural integrity for sensitive part enclosures and mounts. printer is able to achieve semi-cosmetic surface finish, and may achieve cosmetic finish after customer touch up -- no post print touch up service is offered. print nozzle is 0.50 mm. theoretical position accuracy is sub 50 microns in all dimensions. measured part rms accuracy is approximately 500 microns in all dimensions. Interlocking parts must have clearance of 500 um minimum, 1.0 mm preferred, 2.0 mm conservative. In other words, a part designed to accept a 5.5 mm width hex nut insert will preferably have a 7.5 mm width hex hole. standard layer height is 0.25 mm. standard print material is black abs. no other materials or colors are offered. standard print settings include 3 solid base layers, 3 solid perimeter layers, 3 solid ceiling layers, and 20% rectangular infill. smaller abs prints are reproduced well without warping. warping is inevitable for large flat prints. all prints occur on heated glass bed. abs prints are on top of abs slurry treated glass. standard prints do not use any support material. overhangs as steep as 45 deg are well reproduced and bridges as far as 20 mm show integrity by second layer ( 0.25 mm deviation overall ). first layer of bridge may sag by as much as 1.00 mm while still providing some structural support. sagging bridge material may be removed by customer in post print touch up. support material is non standard but can be printed at customer request. support material will not be removed post print -- customer will need to perform post print finishing. support material removal from ceiling and sidewall surface is semi-compliant, requiring some post removal finishing. support removal from floor surface can be challenging. support material is not recommended.

to contract a print job, customer must send stl file to borlaug industries via email at "borlaug.industries [ at ] gmail [ dot ] com". stl file must be manifold and ready to print, or job will be rejected, and customer will be referred to design service.

build volume:
170 x 170 x 125 mm. all parts must fit in this volume.

pickup (flexible):
Torrance, 90505 : week days between 7-8 PM
UCLA, 90095 : week days, between 2-4 PM

shipping and handling:
usps and ups shipping is available at cost paid by customer. standard delivery method is customer pickup. if shipping is preferred, please request shipping and make sure that shipping costs are included in your invoice.

prices:
0.250 mm layer height :: 0.25 usd / cm^3 :: 10 usd setup fee

part purpose:
customer must declare purpose and intention of printed part. no controversial or copyright parts will be printed. by submitting a design customer is agreeing that part is not controversial, copyright, or prohibited in any way from being printed by a third party and delivered to customer. by submitting a design customer is agreeing to assume all civil and criminal liability with regard to the printing and receiving of part. right to refuse printing of suspicious parts is retained.
