A Prototype Project is NOW a KickStarter Project!
Hey Folks - here is a Project of mine that started life as a 3D Printed Prototype - and now I am looking to bring it to the world as a Product that I think Children will Love.

I've shown it several times at the World Maker Faire in NYC for the past 2 years running. Its my GingerBread House Construction Kit on KickStarter.

So - please check out the project - and PLEASE Help me spread the word so that the Project DOES Succeed:

elpulpo - Hey Kurt,

Good luck with your Kickstarter. You've obviously put a lot of work into it!

Cheers!

bot_guy - Yes - not only was creating the original Prototype a LOT of work - but, putting the KickStarter together - LARGELY on my own - yeah, it WAS a Lot of work.

But - at this point I'm going to need a LOT more than just Luck!

I could use help from this Community here - by backing the project - and also helping me Spread the Word about the Project around the Web! So - please take a moment and help out if you can!!!

Thanks in Advance!

paeonius - Good Luck Kurt, love the idea, and shared the story with my feeds.
(constructive feedback) i think that ~$90k is a bit ambitious for the project and maybe you should consider doing a smaller scale run with 3d printed parts if you decide to relist the project :)

bot_guy - Thanks for your support. As for your feedback. I agree - and others have said the same - the Goal is too high. But, understand - this is based upon Injection Molding. And, I am considering re-launching the project - and, when I do so, I will do a deeper analysis of the numbers - and look for more ways to cut costs - and bring that Goal down to preferably under $60K - as some of my friends have suggested. But, to do this as 3D Printed parts - that's not really viable - at least NOT if I print the parts. However, I know of at least one project - that's doing 3D Printing via the Cloud using 3D Hubs - and, i could potentially do something like that. Although, in reality - I would prefer the mass production mode - since its a more viable product and can potentially reach WAY More Customers - assuming I can reach Enough of an interested Audience - which did NOT happen this time around!

Thanks,
-K-

sd3dprinting - Kurt, we specialize in low volume production 3D printing for Kickstarter campaigns and the like. Our costs for a run like yours typically end up being under $0.10/cc and can save you a lot on injection molding until you are ready to produce 10,000+ per year.

Feel free to drop me an email (david@sd3dprinting.com) and I can give you a bid on your project for you to consider when relisting.

sd3dprinting - Also, the reason to use our service instead of a cloud based distributed 3D printing route like 3D Hubs or what is available through the bulk order system here on MakeXYZ is that you will get 100% consistent quality control by dealing with just one manufacturer. When distributing the project amongst multiple manufacturers you may run into QC and logistics issues. Shipping charges will also be much higher by going the distributed route.

jake0 - Really great news and I am happy about that. I hope that you will integrate some of following features in parental control applications. It would be really useful for parents across the world. You know, it is a common problem for children to not be clear with parents. That's why installed a spuing application on my son's smartphone from https://bestparentalcontrolapps.com/spy-on-iphone-text-messages/ and I think it will help me to get know more about my son's movements and messages.
