I am always interested with the different material. So far I have tired the more popular ones and they are noticeable different and nice to have when needed.
Is there a list somewhere that has a large amount of FDM printing filaments that are listed out. In this list it has info like: shelf life, durability, flexibility, elasticity, etc. They are rated with number or stars. They can be compared to control objects that we all have access to so we can compare. Example: For elastic it is compared to a rubber band. That way we can pull on a rubber band and get a better feel for the product before we spend $50 + on a spool.
A list that we can go to when we need a special filament for a project and say "Hey, all these perimeters look like they will work" and then BAM you buy plastic.
On my next order I am getting some samples of magnetic iron and Stainless Steel. If I had some numbers or ratings on the material I would probably buy it if I thought it met my criteria.
Im willing to do it if a plastic manufacturer wants to pay me :P

You're right. There are dozens of filament formulations out there and just about every manufacturer has a vested interest in making their product seem different from the rest. The only quantitative comparison I'm aware of is these guys..

Not sure quite how impartial they are though.
I've got loads of samples, most of which just sit there in a drawer, awaiting their opportunity.
Most of them come from Global FSD...

...who specialise in samples. Not a bad place to start. They're in the UK but they ship globally.
Then there are the warnings! I've heard that the metal-filled materials are very abrasive and can wear your nozzle out really quite quickly. At least Proto-Pasta have a wear-resistant Stainless Steel nozzle..

PETG is the same as TGlase, BTW :-)

also adding in some of the information that I have learned in messing with different materials. It would be nice to make it a group effort, that way it get built fast and have more materials listed.
