I heard a lot of people challenging the merits of the study, that you can actually save money printing the objects listed.

But here's one thing you can't argue: the fact that I'm making a few hundred every month on here with my 3D printer.

So save $2k... idk. But earn $2k. Hell yea!

odiewan - One thing that some studies cite in support of saving money is that you don't have to ship parts if you print them at home. Injection molding machines are huge and use a lot of energy. As does the vehicles that ship those injection molded parts.

One would have to have printing material, though.

makerbeck - Most people will be much better off going to someone who has a 3D printer. This is not (yet) like creating a note on a wordprocessor and hitting print and sending it to your inkjet printer.
