I bought my second Makerbot Rep2 eight weeks ago today. Although Markerbot had killed that model in favor of the new Gen. 5 machines, :( I thought it was a tried and true performer and one they should of kept.
After much searching I found a warehouse at Dell that had 30 in stock. I only needed one at the time but I should of bought two. Needless to say, their long gone now...

Today the second machine hit day 56 with 532hrs. of run-time. It's been running 66+hrs. a week and it hasn't missed a beat.

Now the question, as I'm looking for a third machine.
What do you recommend? How reliable are your current printers?

ashley@3dprintvancouver.com - I run two Mendel90s and will be building many more of the same. They are versatile workhorses. The only failed prints are from poor slicing. If you're happy with the Rep2, I suggest looking into Flashforge Creator - very similar to the Rep2 and I have heard good things. Jeremy Simon of 3D Universe uses them to crank out e-Nable prosthetic hands.

necf - I've been waiting for the market to flood so I can pick up some used Rep1 units on the cheap. I have 3000+ hrs on mine and I would also classify it as a workhorse.

vinnie90 - I have 2 replicator 2's

one at 1500 hrs. and another at 500. I have been told by Makerbot that when you update your firmware it does reset the time or not make it as accurate. Just running some numbers in my head. I know these machines has way more hours on them!!!

What I love about these machines is that they just work.

raykholo - E3D hotends are solid. My best results are with the default 0.4mm nozzle. Couple that with a spring-loaded arm extruder for max pressure on the filament into the drive gear and you'll be set. That's really all that matters, in addition to a flat bed that will stay level. Even if your frame is only half-decent, not like it'll magically fall apart or anything. hopefully...

nyl0cke - The SeeMeCNC Rostock MAX. Large build area, fun and easy to build, self serviceable and upgrade-able, and you learn a lot building it. Fully capable of ABS, PLA, T-glass, and Bridge out of the box, and you can modify it to print anything with the addition of an all metal Hotend, like the E3d. I have an E3d Kraken on mine (water cooled quad extruding beast of an all metal design)
