fabhappy - Just chiming in here -- 3DP material cost isn't always a constant. It depends on the complexity of the part and the print settings. If there is a part that's got some fragile features, there's bound to be a time when you break the part upon removal, or something else annoying happens like warping. I agree that laser cutting should be per job. I haven't ever had issues with the laser cutter. Once I do a test pass to etch or cut through a material, the parts come out fine the first time. But of course, I could be doing way simpler things than you. Back to the 3DP issue, I think the pricing needs to depend upon complexity of the STL. Once I get more jobs through makexyz, hopefully I'll figure out what works for me.

prntlab - I think the 3DP should be based on an hourly fee because some STLs take longer to print but use less material due to its complexity. For the lasercut fee it would be an hourly fee plus a setup fee, material isn't included. I normally charge $50/per hr.
