Hey there ... I just starting printing with PLA Wood filament. It is a little tricky and had noticed that speed/temperature/layer plays a critical part of the finish.
For a coarse finish, a 200 mm/s, 0.150 mm and 245 Celcius seems to be the best finishing for me. How had it worked for you guys?

- Art, you should check out the new woodfill material from colorFabb. I've used both and the woodfill is very different from laywood. Where laywood is very sensitive to temperature and print speed (whether that's a pro or a con depends on your application of course) and needs some time to harden after the print, the woodfill pretty much prints like standard PLA. It doesn't do the color change with temperature. It is also sandable, stainable, etc.
Right now, it is only available for purchase direct from the Netherlands, so shipping is a bit painful, but I hope to be stocking it first quarter to save US customers a little bit on shipping. I have a tiny bit left in 1.75mm, but can send out a little sample if you'd like.

- I usually use the first method for 3D printing. So my work looks better. Since I am a true connoisseur of art, this is very important to me. After reading https://studyhippo.com/essay-examples/illustration/ and looking through many archives with illustrations, I choose only the best ones for printing and publishing them at my exhibition.
I tested it out here and was amazed by how much I liked it. http://www.printedsolid.com/testing-new-3d-printing-filament-carbon-fiber-wood-filled-xt-and-more/ Since this blog post, I have gone through nearly 4 spools giving out samples and making Christmas gifts!
