What do I do about people who ask for things to be done and disappear like Abbi1008 ? Wasted my time.

- Welcome to the world of any public facing service based business. Ask a freelance web designer how many people ask them to do work then disappear. You will suddenly feel better about your situation.
The only real advice I can give you is try not to start work until an invoice is paid. You will also start to get a feel for who is just fishing for quotes and who is serious based on their messages. Unfortunately this is going to take some time and until then there is going to be some wasted time.

- Yup mhagan. I agree. Gotta roll with it. BTW, Abbi1008 wasted my time too. Gave him a ping, just to ask if he's still interested. Didn't even answer that. Takes a lot of brass neck to be that ignorant! LOL

- Think that would be up to Nathan, not me. :-D

- Been sick, but on the mends, we have a rating system on us, why not have one on the client? Just a thought. I would help much to see who's serious and reliable versus those that are not.

- Glad you're better, Evelyn. Sounds like a good idea. Just one thing: You don't know someone's a time waster until they've wasted your time. I'd imagine that such people send off a whole load of messages at the same time and by the time one of us has lost patience and decided they're a time waster, the damage is done. Can't imagine they'd come back to MakeXYZ after knowingly wasting the time of 5 or 6 of us. Least ways, not under the same user profile. Those who are serious and reliable are likely to stay with the printer they've had a good experience with so they're unlikely to canvas for quotes from anyone else. That's not to say I don't thing it's a good idea. I think it might weed out those who really make printers' lives hell by expecting too much and don't understand how much they'll need to communicate to get what they want. Those ones are hard to spot because they are serious but can be real time wasters nevertheless. Usually they're people who've had unsatisfactory experiences with one printer, think it's the printer's fault and want to try another. I've had a couple of those and they can be a real bear to deal with.
Like your $10 quote idea though! :-D
Cheers!
