Poi'I've been thinking long and hard about the degree I want to get next September at university, and I think veterinary care is better for me. I plan to use this as a "starting point" to eventually become a veterinarian, as I plan to work and save for a few years and then go back to university and enroll in a graduate program in veterinary medicine. There is no way I can meet the requirements for standard admission or even foundation/gateway courses, as I don't have a Chemistry or B level in math at gcse. I think I would have enjoyed being a veterinary nurse more, and my time at university would have been more enjoyable, and I think the skills I have now are more suited to becoming a veterinary nurse rather than a veterinary surgeon.

Please, could you tell me about some of the advantages and disadvantages of becoming a veterinary nurse, as opposed to becoming a veterinary surgeon?

mollyareb - Hey, you're a student, it's not so hard for you to change your profession. Especially if you can do it in parallel with the university you have now. Plus, why do you want to become a veterinarian assistant? This is interesting, but not enough to be beneficial to you.
