Prison is not a solution. This person clearly has issues and would need rehabilitation in every sense. Its the only chance she would have to function normal in society - that is, if she becomes rehabilitated. If that doesn't work, well then the only option is to put her in prison since she is a threat to society. The sad part about throwing people in jail is they will come out one day and become a nuisance to society. They can't get a normal job, may or may not have learned their lesson, and have a high probability to re-offend.

- Hi. Good question, and really, what to do with people like that? I actually get very frustrated knowing that after a murder, it's not that people are free, but that they haven't thought through their deed and are trying to do it again. If by law such people are considered insane and they are not sentenced, somehow they should be supervised. Take for example the clinic from https://www.abbeycarefoundation.com/rehab-scotland/ . I can't imagine how much work and attention they are willing to give to sick people. Yes, I'm not afraid to say sick, because alcoholism is a disease. Or, I think the best option is to have such clinics in prisons. It turns out that a person will sober up and understand exactly what he has done, and understand that he is being punished. If you just put addicts in jail without treatment, they will never understand what they have done.
