what's the most useful thing you've ever 3D printed?
It seems like when it comes to 3D printing a lot of people and news organizations focus on novelty stuff, which is cool....... but at the same time potentially hollow in the long-run.

What have you 3D printed that you use daily?

I think the 3D printed item that I use most is my spool holder.... which is, um, frustratingly recursive.

kstichno - I've found that 3D printing project boxes and pods for my different electronic projects has proved extremely useful especially when compared to the alternative of making your design fit into commercially available boxes

vinnie90 - tool holders that holds specific allen wrenches to fix the machine, spindle holders, wire savers,.....thats about it. Other things are like stupid things that I think is cool to have that I found on thingiverse...lol

boxbluff_1 - Haha yea... I guess it's just funny that the most useful 3D printed stuff is the stuff we use to do more 3D printing.

I like drinking water because it helps me drink more water later.

mkapras - My new business cards are sitting in my 3d printed business card case (of course!) I printed a few plastic stakes to hold up my solar walkway lights. But other than that, 3d printing stuff and novelties.

defcon3d - Mkapras@ would be interested in how the above ground part of the stakes hold up in the Florida sun this summer?

I've had some interesting failures in our Ca. climate on outdoor products.

mkapras - It was only the part that gets shoved into the ground. So far so good.

mkapras - That's what 3d printing was made for! Sounds delicious!

kadcorp - I've done a few things: GoPro mount, coffee tamper handle, bike tool holders to secure them to the bike frame, rubber grips using filaflex (this stuff is great). The possibilities are endless, especially with the new types of materials that are coming out.
Next project is seeing if I can print myself out a new pair of rubber flip flops :)

angusgbishop - For myself, I haven't been able to justify the cost of anything. But or others I have also printed a GoPro mount and some light pipe traffic light things.
Embarrassingly possibly the biggest use for the resin so far has been pouring in into my roommates coconut cup to make it watertight, not even using the printer!

yellowjester - I've modeled and printed various replacements for things that have broken around the house. New toilet flush handle/arm, blender clutch, sliding closet door brackets, sink strainer. Probably all stuff I could have ordered, but printing my own was faster/cheaper/more rewarding, and in all cases the ones I made were designed to be stronger than the originals.

absolutemech - Some coat hooks that look like dinosaurs for my grandsons. We are working on the gears for a pendulum clock right now that we will probably try to sell as a learning toy on eBay.

sd3dprinting - We scanned and modified the convertible arms to a 1990 BMW 325i for a customer. The original part was injection molded ABS with very space ribbing to save pennies on material costs. These pieces are notorious for breaking routinely so we created a more robust infill with lower stress concentrations. Our modified arm provides higher strength at a lower cost (no BMW markup).

mkapras - @necf - what kind of scanner do you have? Must be something nice if you can get good detail from something that small...

elpulpo - @mkapras Take a look at Fuel3D. It's half the price of David and looks to have better resolution. That said, You'd need to get pretty handy stitching meshes together.

dawneekoz - We have this hanging screen for our back door so the dog can go in and out without destroying a screen door. The screen is held in place with a rod, and the rod is held in place with some plastic clips that my husband designed and printed with the 3D printer.Other than that, we have printed parts for our 3D printers with our 3D printers. :)

n23d - LED Tiki lights for my back yard. The bamboo ones fell apart and were always full of bugs. So I designed lights that had built in screens to keep bugs out. They come on every night. Pocket LED flashlight. I am printing a bunch of these for our Maker Group. Battery door for a cook timer. Old one broke. A stand for my propane torch so it won't fall over. Electrical closeout boxes for my neighbors new security lights. Camera adaptor for my Microscope. 3D Printer spool holders. Brackets for my pick and place machine (still in process) Automatic Spool winder for my Filistruder. Snow flake ornaments (only used around holidays) Strainer funnel for Form1.

It seems like all of these things would make great additions to the store feature on here. !

marvini - This is really very useful article to know about 3d printing which is very useful for students. I am also searching for industrial x ray machine at https://unixray.com/ for my diagnostic testing lab. For my lab, I have to buy the best machines and this site helped me to know about testing machines.

figo - 3D printing is usually used in more complex products. The advantage is high efficiency. 3D printing products have a disadvantage that the strength of the product is not high. Normal products can be processed by CNC. For example, this design supplier https://fiter-auto.com/ can provide product CAD design and CFD simulation, quick prototyping.
