Here are some handy scripts you can build as .s3g files to put on your Thing-O-Matic's SD card to call up on your Gen4 Interface kit (http://store.makerbot.com/makerbot-interface-board-kit-v1-1.html). These simple utility scripts are in use in the MakerBot BotFarm on a row of Thing-O-Matics with Stepstruder MK6-Plus 3mm toolheads, each calibrated the same way. By taking a look at the start.gcode and end.gcode of your MK5 or MK6 1.75mm toolheads you can make adjustments to these scripts for a broader range of machines.TOMcalib: This script is a stripped down version of the RepG 25 Calibration script. Before running the script you center the platform to the nozzle on the XY axes and then lower the nozzle to touch flat to the build platform without pressing into it. Select the TOMcalib script using the Interface kit and activate it. The z-platform will raise up to touch the Z-max endstop and the platform will move to the right and back to touch the x- and y-min endstops. The travel from the centered positions overwrites the Motherboard x/y/z offset values so that when a RepG 25 or later print runs, the proper build envelop information will be in place. To use this script best, have a handy object like a hollow calibration cube or similar to run immediately after running this script. While it is easy to open up Machines > Motherboard Onboard Preferences to make manually adjustments to the z-height (in particular), it is better to get a feel for the right placement of the nozzle before running the calibration script each time so that you can adjust your MakerBot in the field without issue.TOMextrude50: This script heats up the toolhead to 225 degrees celsius and extrudes for 50s. You can tune to run this longer by changing the value of the milliseconds assigned in the G04 command -- one second equals 1000 milliseconds. Great tool to heat up to change filaments or exporting a little filler for a void on a model.TOMconvey50: This script advances the conveyor belt for an ABP for 50 seconds. Great for advancing the belt to a better section or testing to make sure that the DC motor power is correctly routed. You can always cancel out of this quickly if you just want to quickly check belt direction!TOMextruder120: 2min of extrusion is better for switching colors. Feel free to cancel when you are good to go.TOMreverse120: Backs out the filmament -- great for MK6 and MK7 1.75mm filament. You might find you need to help a tiny bit at the beginning (particularly w MK7) -- but resist the impulse to tug it out. Let the filament exit naturally so you leave less broken filament in the extruder. In addition, I suggest you run an Octopus v16 (here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7900) as a calibration print. Great for checking level and x/y/z gantry quickly.
