This is a spool that fits in a carabiner. It's used for securing paracords or other cords. 03 Sept 2013 update:
Added a V2 version.
Allows the use of either M3 screw/nut or cableties to secure the 2 halves together.

Insert the 2 halves of the spool into the carabiner before securing the 2 halves with the M3 nuts and M3x10 screws or Cableties. This is the Carabiner I used (the description is Aluminium but the main body is Stainless steel):
