The Pencil Case (pencil box) is able to hold a maximum of 9 unsharpened pencils. It has an 8" ruler on the side. The Pencil door slides up through a slot in the bottom of the box to keep the pencils from falling out. And includes a notch to help with the removing of the door. The pencil topper is an adapter that allows the user to use mechanical pencil replacement erasers with a normal pencil. As an added extra,there is also a compass that is used to make circles ranging in 1/2" intervals from 1/2-5". All of these parts can be stored in their own slots that have been designed into the pencil box. The pencil topper and compass slots have grooves in them to improve accessibility of the objects.I designed the box and then incorporated a ruler into it. I then performed some calculations to find the highest quantity of pencils that I could fit into as small of a space as possible and still have clearance. I then made the door, compass and pencil topper. I then spent a few days critiquing my idea and improving the design and appearance. Followed by renderings.
