A snap fit, high performance flying wing design. Get best in class performance without sticky fingers with the stingray ...great for young makers and the glue challenged as well as anyone who wants a great flying little plane, the Stingray will provide pleasing performance from a 190mm bed. If you want a version for a 100mm bed, there is a special 100mm printable variant that is assembled from two halves at http://threedsy.com , or see the D100 right here at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:300168 Exchangeable canopies for adjusting the CG for longer or more aerobatic flights. Glueless without sacrificing performance, this design is great for loops and long flights. Available in unbranded and jumbo (350mm, but prints on a 190mm+ bed .. see in the pics) versions at http://threedsy.com For tips on printing glider wings, drop by my blog at threedsy.com and if you like our models, keep us designing for you instead of flipping burgers by purchasing one of our premium designs from the site! Description: An efficient flying wing glider with glueless assembly, ideal for looping flights and long glides. Plastic: ABS Layers: .20mm Fill: 25% Perimeters: 2 Solid Layers: 2 filament use / weight (3mm) : Approx 1500mm Orientation: first layer lentghwise (0 degrees to fuselage), altrenate by 90 degrees. A 45 degree (or non right angle) axis will cause asymetrical wing warping under load (bad). Build Notes: Allow to cool before carefully removing from build platform. The wings are easily deformed during removal, and must be absoultely symmetrical for proper flight. Removal with a very thin plastic spatula (print one!) is preferred. Test fit all parts and trim if necesary prior to final assembly. The dihedral joint is assembled by clamping along the top of the fuselage between the wings with the dihederal clip to establish dihedral angle. Clip is most asiliy installed one corner at a time mid chord and then slid fully foreward into place. Remove any adhesions, test clip and adust as necescary prior to assembly to achieve a symmetrical dihedral angle. Insert (snap) the hook into the canopy one end at a time, pointed canopy end and open jaw of hook facing the same direction. Snap the hook / canopy assemby into the fuselage. Slide tails into place being sure to fully insert the locking tabs. Flight Notes: Launching is by hand or with a 1/16" to 1/8" rubber band. Test and adjust by launching with a small rubber band partially extended. After proper trim is achieved, stronger bands may be used. A slight elevon - up reflex is provided by the twin tails. The skeleton canopy can be used to provide a lighter lose for slower or more aerobatic flights. A gradual test/adjust cycle is recommended. To correct turning or spiraling, differential elevator control (elevon) may be used. Carefully bend this in with finger pressure, but avoid creasing or excessive strain.
