Cerro Torre is not the highest of Patagonian peaks, just the most spectacular. This crazy needle of granite is one of the most spectacular and most difficult climbs in the world. The rock is so steep and bare that one of the early climbing parties failed to reach the summit despite hauling a gas powered air compressor and drill with them. The slightly higher bonus mountain to the side is Fitz Roy which is immortalized as the logo of the Patagonia clothing company. You can watch a video tutorial on how to make your own mini mountains at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzwybr65I9o This is part of my series of "collectible mountains". All the models in this series are rendered at 1:100000. The model represents an area 10km x 10km. The bottom of the model sits at sea level so the different mountains can be accurately compared. Have you even wondered just how much bigger Everest is than Mt Shasta? Now you can hold them both in your hands and compare. Complete instructions on how to make models from digital elevation data can be found on my blog at http://www.the3dprintedfuture.com/shapespeare/?p=1
