Star Citizen is a space sim being developed by Chris Roberts, RSI, CIG. These popular ships are derived from the current Hanger Module. Mr. Roberts has pushed the graphics to epic levels. Great for the visuals but tough for our 3D printers. I have managed to get the vertex and face counts to manageable levels on a few of them. But these are very difficult to convert to STL formats that work. Material thickness is also a concern. The bulky ships do fine, but thin walls like on the Hornet require a rather large print to keep it looking good. I am currently printing a Hornet that is in 4 chunks (about 8 hour per piece). End result once fitted together will be about 12x12x5 inches. Also, the Freelancer still requires lowering of facets to make it viable. Results will be uploaded if they work out as planned. The Merlin and Avenger (one with a ladder and one without) came out acceptable enough to pass on to those who wish to have one of these.
