I was thinking about making my own t-shirt artwork eversince, but silkprinting needs much equipment that I didn't want to buy to just make two or tree shirts for my own...So I invented another Idea: The 3D printable t-shirt (or textile) artwork. PLA will melt at about 60°C - fair enough to be ironed-on to any kind of fabric. I tested it with some bags I am sewing to organize my luggage for holiday... :)edit 1: added some more critters to experiment with..The process is relatively simple. You need the following materials and tools:Materials: -electric iron (actually one with coal will work too... ;) ) -baking paper -any kind of graphic to 3D print -3D printer that is able to print soft PLA -some soft PLAArtwork for Printing: Any kind of 2D Graphic can be used. Use your preferred 3D-Software to create a solid file with the same thickness that your artwork should have (I use 0.20mm which works well for me). Create an STL file, slice it and print it. The print will be one single layer thick. I print on glas directly - like this the printed "foil" can be removed with a sharp knifeblade. I used soft PLA for best results - it works with standard PLA but this will give a quite stiff T-Shirt ;)Ironing: The Ironing process is fairly easy. Nevertheless, I recommend to make some tests/exercise first with some old fabric pieces or so...Things left to test: I didn't do any machine washing tests so far and no wearing tests... it is just a proof of concept so far... perhaps you might want to leave me a comment if you gain some experience with it... Further Infos will follow... :)
