A relief of Wellington Harbour. The vertical scale is not constant, the shore line has been exaggerated to emphasise where the water starts. The scale of this model is so small that it doesn't print very well. All the valley details are lost. Enlarging part of the model would probably work well. I have been playing with ways to make a printable model of New Zealand locations. I've included a brief description of the workflow for anyone else who may be interested (including myself in a few months when I've forgotten how I did it). I got the height information from Koordinates.com (https://koordinates.com/layer/3741-14-palmerston-north-15m-dem-nzsosdem-v10/) This gave me a huge TIFF file. I used Photoshop CS6 to crop the image. Then I used the Image -> Adjustments -> HDR Toning to adjust the gray levels and emphasise the coastline. I am going for an easily recognisable model rather than an accurate one. Then I used the Create New 3D Object -> Mesh From Depth Map -> Plane and exported the result as an obj. Then I used Meshmixer: Select -> Edit -> Extrude -> z axis to create the printable.
