I am overhauling a bobcat I purchased recently, and one of the issues was the gauges look like they have gone ten rounds with tyson (or a grinder or something) the metal bezel surround is quite soft, so can be pried loose, however it is also easy to damage. By using this support ring, the opening prising is focussed just on the crimped edge, not the side of the instrument, and closing up afterwards is also assisted by keeping the face and ring of a freshly repainted gauge free from damage, whilst holding it firmly.I measured and designed a support that fit the face of the bezel, and added a bevel angle to allow the crimping back of the edge once the repair was completed. I also laser cut some polycarbonate lenses to replace the glass that was badly damaged.
