This is a set of feet to construct a screen for the Makerbot Digitizer. I find it helps immensely to eliminate things that can ruin a scan like stray light sources, wandering onlookers with light reflective bits of clothing and other things (badges, eye glasses, etc.). The screen is placed around the 'front' of the scanner and is designed to deflect (is that right word?) the laser so that the camera can capture the reflection off the object easier. It has helped my scans greatly. I hope you have similar results.Prepare the screen by cutting to size (30" x 16" is recommended) and cutting through one side at four points (vertically). I made cuts at 6", 11", 19", and 24". This creates the fan effect for wrap around (see photos). Next, paint the side without the cuts for the folds. You can use stone-look spray paint to give some texture first. Be sure to allow this to fully dry, especially if you use the sign board. Next, paint the screen with flat black spray paint. Once that is dry, you can paint the other side if you want but that is largely optional. Print the parts with 10% infill and use a raft to limit lifting. Place the screen in the slots (best when paint is completely dry). If the screen is loose, you can use a bit of double sided tape to keep the feet on but I like to keep mine loose so I can remove them, fold the screen and store it when not in use (otherwise it hides the digitizer). Place the screen in front of the scanner before you scan. Now distractions like bright lights, people walking by, etc. won't affect the scan.
