This assembly will accommodate filament spools ranging from 20-52mm diameter, and 12cm deep. Hopefully will cover the majority of spools out there. It's been tested with Hatchbox 1kg ABS/PLA, Hatchbox 1lb, Taulman 618 & 645 1lb, Ninjaflex 1/2 kg. The spool rides on two hubs fitted with ball bearings, feeding into the filament guide, feeding into the stock filament guide, and finally into the extruder. (pictures to come) You will need to print: Da Vinci Hub x 2 Da Vinci Spool Carrier x 1 Da Vinci Filament Guides x 1 Da Vinci Quick Release Spool Fastener x1 or Da Vinci Threaded Spool Fastener If printing for the 2.0, you'll need another set of the above. I used this initially, but it was very time consuming to change spools so I modified the quick release I found elsewhere. Hub spools require 608 bearing I plasti-dipped the inward hub face to increase traction on the spools. Probably isn't needed however. Quick release uses a 3mm bolt & nut. You'll notice each of the hangers has a cut slot to fit into the Davinci case spline to prevent movement. I printed all hangers at 90% infill. At least the spool hangers should be for necessary strength for the long rod (thats what she said) The threaded rod prints the proper size on 50% infill or less, but 90% infill it prints too large - too large for the bearings to fit. I needed to sand the rod down post-print. Finally the filament guide twin towers need to be offset rearwards so the rear canopy can fit. With this installation the rear canopy can only open maybe 20cms. Good enough for changing filaments.
