I designed this Arduino DRO (digital readout) housing for my lathe utilizing Yuriy's Toys Android DRO Project (website listed below). Basically, it is a system that utilizes an Arduino connected to scale controller(s) communicating with an Android device via Bluetooth. In the end, it is a a very nice and inexpensive DRO. Instead of cutting and soldering the controller wires directly to the prototyping shield, I added USB mini breakout boards from Adafruit. Multiple covers are included with the files with 0 to 5 mini USB openings. The cover just snaps onto the base with the four retaining nubs. As you may notice from the photos, I used SeeedStudio's Protoshield (RadioShack) and a Bluetooth Transceiver Module from Amazon. If I build additional units, I plan to use Adafruit's EZ-Link shield to simplify and condense the build. I purchased a low-cost ($50 from Amazon) Android tablet as a dedicated touchscreen instead of using my phone. Actual Tablet: DeerBrook 7" Dual Core 1.5GHz Android 4.4 Tablet. Mounts for this tablet included. PDF includes 2D drawings with dimensions. Yuriy's website has lots of great information on how to do this build. It allows for up to 4 axis and a tachometer. All code is free as is the Android application (TouchDRO on Google Play Store).. Certainly worthy of a donation that's available on his site. Great stuff from Yuriy - THANKS! Of course, this could be used for any Arduino UNO (or similar board layout) application where you need a simple mount and cover. The top of the cover is more narrow and contacts the shield if shield board is in the same plane as the edge along the USB / power supply side. I have now removed all the original cover files and replaced them with ones that should not not interfere. The SeeedStudio Protoshied I used was "shorter" on the USB / power supply end and did not create a problem. When I tried to use a different shield, I realized the problem. All should be good now. STEP file is now included.
