I see my early version of the bearing supported spool is still being DL and so I am adding the current version of the bearing supported spool which I developed. It is one piece with a 8mm inline skate bearing at each end held in with a internal 26mm Circ-clip which I bought from http://www.springmasters.com/circlips.html (no affiliation or vig) I also got the tool from them and the assortment box of clips. edit - the clips are not required, but they do make the bearings fixed. Without the clips the bearings are just pressed fit and can come out.
