I had quite a lot of trouble searching for the right spool holder. I tried out some designs, but none of them really suited my needs. This holder can handle spool diameteres up to 25cm and above that you can still use the original one. Spool widths can be up to 96mm. But you can easily modify it to handle even bigger ones. Even narrow spools don't tip over, even tough I got the "Heavy duty Vibration dampers" (Thing 94733) installed. They create movement of about 5mm in the top part. The spool holder just clips on to the top edge of the dibond plate. Thing 263242 was my inspiration for that feature. Friction keeps them from moving to the side. The spool holder reduces the stress on the gantry to a minimum. The two tubes roll on ball bearings (6203 (17x40x12)).The stop plate keeps them from coming of. You can use 3,5x10mm srcews to secure it. I just glued mine in place with hotglue. You have to sand the rod quite a bit to make a good fit with the bearings. I use a slightly smaller diameter on the middle part to reduce sanding. I needed to create a new filament guide. It doesn't have a dust filter, you have to print one that clips on to the top of the extruder. I prefer to do it like that, to keep the friction close to the extruder. I use thing 190118 for that.
