I modified the tileset uploaded by jmne to allow for different kinds of acrylic for each tile type. The result is a nice colourful set of lasercut puzzle-connected tiles for Settlers of Catan. To use these tiles, first read through the original Thing by jmne. Then verify that the tileset will work with your widths: I measured my acrylics after buying them, and instead of the 3" I expected, they all were 3.03" wide — the guides in the .CDR are for this width. If your acrylic has a different width, you will need to edit the .CDR to make sure you still align your tiles inside the acrylic strips.I cut them in two passes: once with raster settings and only the raster layer. To punch through the covering paper and the acrylic, I used 600 dpi, 100% speed and 50% power on a 60W Epilog Helix. Make sure you only print it as a Raster, not as Vector. You may want to increase the power even more, or do several passes — I found the etch still somewhat shallow after this.Second pass, print only the vector layer, and with acrylic vector cutting settings. I used 20% speed, 90% power.Once cut, paint the tiles — before you remove the covering paper. I used acrylic paint that I diluted with a few splashes of water to make it runny enough to really soak down into the etched acrylic. Dry the pieces overnight, and then peel off the covering paper. It will bring the acrylic paint with it as you pull it off. For the small specks in the middle of the design, I have found that using finger nails is optimal.I tried a few design tricks that didn't quite pan out in this. I made the Rocks out of a dark gray acrylic, and painted on black, as the dark areas in the original design correspond to shadows in the picture. It may be significantly better if you invert the images first, and then paint over with white, but I haven't tried that yet. Furthermore, some of the tiles have really thin design elements — these may not quite come out cleanly.Material consumption: 10" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for ports 3" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for desert 6" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for circlets 10" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for brick tiles 10" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for wheat tiles 10" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for forest tiles 10" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for ore tiles 10" x 3" 1/8" Acrylic for sheep tilesAlso, white and black acrylic paint.Final words: Settlers of Catan is a fantastic game. This will not give you a complete game set. You should buy the game independently.
