Solidworks project for a Borderlands loot chest I made. Now you too can stash all your epic loot! Complete with a hinge and 100% PLA decorative locking mechanism. There are 4 parts: the top, the bottom, the bolt and the cap to be placed on the bolt. These are all contained in the two .thing and .x3g files I attached a ton of source files, but the only thing you need to do is print the .x3g files. The bottom has its own print file while the top, bolt and bolt cap are in the second file. The STL files are attached as well if you want to re-size/rearrange the files in the print. The SolidWorks Models are also included if you want to change the model around. I want to see your results if you print one! Please show me!The files use supports and rafts, so if you want to change anything, you'll have to start from the .thing files. The .x3g files are 10% infill, standard (2 mm infill), Just take the two .x3g files and print them using your very own Makerbot Replicator 2! (or another printer if it suits you) The hinge holes may have to be re-sized after the supports are removed. I suggest using a rounded diamond file. I re-sized the bolt cap since it was difficult to get it to fit without filing the inside down. I also flipped it upside down in the .thing file since it was printing supports inside it. I haven't printed the updated version of the bolt cap, but it can always be refitted with a file. Warning: The STL file for the top is at a very slight angle for some reason and I'm not sure how to fix it. If you wish to start from the STL files, just be careful to make sure the top is as flat as it can get. The print I made (see pictures) was printed at this small angle and it resulted in a small pattern of stripes, but it's not a big deal. It actually looks good. Send me a message if you need any help!
