UPDATED with an additional smaller size, plus a drumstick. A nice sounding hand drum made out of a single printed piece. https://youtu.be/AQqfMECkWJY This is sized to fit on an Ultimaker 2 -- 200mm diameter, 50mm deep. I've also made and tested a version sized at 150mmx50mm. It works great, has a higher pitch than the big one. You can't scale this file. It will change the wall thickness and or the skin thickness and it won't work right. Also I've uploaded a nice hand drum stick. It makes a much louder and cleaner sound than hitting it with knuckles. The two I made were done in ABS plastic, not sure how it will perform in other materials. To play it, hold in one hand as show in the photo, rap it with the knuckles of the other hand. It makes the best sound if you hit it at the opposite edge from where you are holding it. Or use the drumstick and hit it in the center. When you slice this make sure that the "skin" is made of at least 2 layers. The skin itself is .5mm thick. In Cura I set the initial layer to .3mm and the remaining layers to .2mm This gives two crisscrossed layers for the skin. Use at least 50 percent fill. I have a glass build platform on my Ultimaker 2. To be sure it does'nt lift while printing i use some glue stick on the platform, plus printed with brim. Let it cool completely before attempting to remove. It should come off with almost no effort. You can see in one photo I have stripes on one. I did this by manually pausing and changing colors. Each stripe took 20 minutes of printing to get their thickness. handDrum.stl is the original file... Thingiverse doesn't let you rename a file , so I uploaded a new version of it: handDrum200.stl so it's explicit that it's the 200mm version. Update: I've uploaded a 150mm sized one... Plus a nice drum stick that works well with both drums. When you print the drumstick, you should print with brim because it prints vertically and the brim tends to support tall thin things well. If you print at 50 percent fill it comes strong and has a nice weight to it.
