A cheep and simple magnifier for close up or through hole soldering. printed on DA Vinci 1.0 This is a very preliminary design and came about by necessity. I have been prototyping for my new project and was looking for a powerful magnifying aid. All of the magnifiers i looked at were very expensive and were not of the magnification i was looking for. I built the whole thing for less than 20 GBP and am very satisfied with the results. The magnification is powerful and the led lighting works great. Surface mount components are easily re-workable due to the power of the lenses. BOM-things you need to make this thing are as follows. 3x 100mm magnifying glasses.x3 magnification 1x 100mm led ring light-12 volts 1x 12 volt power supply 140ma minimum 2x i pad stands with flexible shafts and ball joint swivel brackets. Print out the round holes STL and nut cut outs STL x 2 of each to make up the two halves of the clamping brackets. 8x M5 nuts and bolts 4@ 60mm and 4@ 40mm are used to fasten the two pieces together sandwiching the ball joint of the i pad stand between them. This design is very flexible in its placement,it can be mounted rear or front of work table or even under a shelf. The mounting clamps move around the ring of the magnifying glass to enable easier positioning of the lens to the work piece. update coming soon enjoy PS my wife stated it looks like something out of the Matrix hence its name.
