I bought one and it should be coming in soon. It use 3. mm abs and pla filament.

I do plan on using this a large amount but I dont see buying a 2 lb. spool of plastic just for this pen. My machines use 1.75 mm.

My questions are:

Anyone knows where I can get smaller amount of 3mm plastic?
Anyone has a 3Doodler and wants to break a spool in half and half the payment?
Any ideas that yall have?

printedsolid - yup. I do at printedsolid.com. It is random colors. I've had a few customers do this specifically for 3doodlers. They've used PLA/PHA and XT (PET material) without any issues due to the material type or coil. I haven't heard of anybody brave enough to try pushing woodfill through yet :)

I know toybuilder does also sells sample packs and I've seen a few randomly on ebay and amazon.

FWIW, I just ordered a bunch of 250gram spools to sample from a Chinese vendor that made me a decent pitch. So, I'll have those soon.

bot_guy - Hey - you beat me to it - as I was going to mention http://toybuilderlabs.com/ on here!
They have a LOT of happy customers - both with Filament quality - and with their Cust. Service. I think they also sometimes just have extra filament or partial spools that they let go cheaper. I know he sometimes has returns. And maybe it may be feasible to buy returned filament cheaper - assuming that it won't cause as much of a problem in a 3Doodler as it does w/a full on 3D Printer. Again - just a suggestion...

Once I get it I will see how quickly it uses the plastic.
