Hilt for the Energy Sword model from Halo Reach. The blade is a 2D design in AutoCAD that I laser-cut out of a sheet of 0.22-in acrylic. The hilt prints in two halves which snap together around the joining segment of the blade. A few differences from the in-game design but it's about as accurate as I could make itDesigned in Autodesk Inventor 2015, using reference images found online and traced in Adobe Illustrator. For best printing results, print with inside face (flat face) facing UP; this makes it significantly easier to break off support material, lowers print time, and increases the print quality of the slots and pegs.
