We link people who need something made with 3D printers and designers in their neighborhoods. If you have a 3D file, you'll upload your file or files and get an instant price. You can upload your files here. Then you'll checkout. Once you checkout, your order will be printed and delivered to you by a maker in your city or nearby.
The cost of your project will vary based on the size of the objects you're 3D printing. For reference, something the size of a teacup will cost USD$5-$10.
Currently, printers on makexyz can print in ABS, PLA, Nylon, Wood, Paper, Bioindustrial/Medical plastic, Full color sandstone, Ceramic, Resin, and... more. And more materials (chocolate!) coming soon. And 20+ colors.
To start, upload your 3D models here: makexyz.com. You'll receive an instant price. Then checkout :)
You can pay with a credit card (all major credit cards are accepted) or with paypal.
Shipping is free on makexyz! Your parts will be delivered to your door in days.
As stated in the makexyz terms of service, all rights to the uploaded design remain firmly with you. Additionally, if you would prefer to work through an NDA before uploading your 3D models, we can make that happen! Contact hello@makexyz.com for more info.
If you have a custom project -- for example, if you need a 3D file designed as well -- you can contact makers directly. Once they scope out your project, they will send you an invoice through makexyz, which you can pay securely with a credit card or with paypal.
It's free.
Your profile is what customers look at when they are deciding where to get their 3D prints done. If you have added your printer to makexyz, your printer profile is, well, your profile. It lists the materials you print in, the colors you print in, along with pictures of your recent prints and information about you and your printing services.
To get as many orders as possible, make sure your profile has pictures of recent prints, a full description, and up to date build platform and resolution information. Additionally, it's very important to have positive reviews. Many makexyz printers have had success getting their first orders by posting links to their profiles on their facebook, twitter, google+, etc. And posting on their local craigslist and reddit. Also emailing your address book is very effective.
You set your own price (a $ per cubic centimeter). And that's how much you get. You can also charge for design time, set-up time, finishing services, etc.
makexyz adds a 20% charge on top of the printer's price in order to feed our lotto ticket addiction. jk, it's to keep things around here running and provide 24/7 customer service.
makexyz collects payment from the customer and holds it for 11 days before forwarding it onto the printer. You have two options for getting paid: direct deposit to your bank account or a transfer via paypal. It's important to note, that while direct deposits to your bank are free for you, there's a 3% fee if you choose to get paid by paypal. Add or edit your payout methods here: payment methods
