This is a base for the Translucent Snowflake Ornament thing by pmoews. It's desinged to use a USB cable to power an LED to light up the ornament from the inside.Print out the base.Cut the device end off a USB cable. Strip the outer insulation and shield back about an inch.Seperate out the four wires. Strip the ends of the red and black wires.Cut the other two wires back to about a quarter inch, but don't strip them.Push the cable thru the hole in the base, just to the point where you stripped the outer insulation. Fold back the two short wires, one to either side and use hot glue to hold the cable in place.Take an LED of your choosing and sand the outside of it till it's all frosted looking. This will make the light from the LED more diffuse and prevent it from just lighting the top of the ornament.Take the LED and an apropreate resistor to let the LED run off five volts. Cut the positive lead of the LED (The longer one) down to about a quarter inch and solder the resistor to it. Solder the red wire to the resistor.Solder the black wire to the end of the other LED lead.Use hot glue to hold the LED in place in the middle of the base. I found that having it stick up abut an inch from the base bottom helped.Use a bit of glue to attach the ornament.
