With Halloween right around the corner, I decided to create a "safe" LED candle to add to my decorations. It's 80 mm high x 75 mm in diameter. Printed in natural white ABS, it produces a realistic glow.I purchased some flickering LEDs from an on-line electronics retailer, but needed a way to mount them. I made the LED holder to mount the LED with a CR2032 3v. coin battery. Since the LED is rated at 3 volts, no resister is needed. The holder grips the LED and battery and it's the perfect size for the 3D printed Votive Candle. You can also use widely available commercial LED candles. The LED and holder also works great to illuminate other 3D printed vases and objects, and the CR2032 coin battery lasts a very long time!I printed the Votive Candle on a Replicator 1 with natural ABS. Settings were: 0 shells, .27 layer height, 5% fill. I'm using the new Sailfish firmware and printed it accelerated in about 2 hr. 20 min.I used 0 shells and 5% fill to make it as transparent as possible to maximize the glowing qualities. For the LED holder, settings were: 1 shell, .27 layer height and 100% fill. You want it solid. I designed the base and walls to be stiff yet flexible. To mount an LED grasp the holder with the walls between two fingers with your thumb under the base. By squeezing down with your fingers the walls will spread just enough to slip the battery and LED into the slot and hold them.To turn off, simply remove the LED.I created the files in Autodesk 123d. I've included the stl files along with the files saved in the 123d format.I hope everyone likes these. This is my first uploaded object to Thingiverse!!
