This is for getting organised with your A3 sheets, instead of keeping them in a big pile on the floor. It's a similar design to a filing cabinet, where the sheets are kept in folders, which slide back and forth on the rack. It consists of A) A Rack (Laser cut plywood, held together with nuts and machine screws) B) Folders (cardboard and dowels) Work in progress - a bottom section for A3 folder storage will also be added.=== To make the rack: === 1) Get some plywood. The stuff i've used was a weird size (3.8mm thick - or more likely 9/64 in imperial measures) and the slots have been designed for this, so if you've a different thickness you'll need to edit the slot size. 2) Laser cut the sides and rails (4 each). 3) Secure the sides in an X shape with six 3mm machine screws and nuts. 4) Slot in the rails. Rack done! === To make the folders === 1) Get some cardboard. Cut as many folders as you like. Dimensions: 760 x 450. Keep the "grain" of the cardboard parallel to the short edge - makes it easier to fold. 2) Make the cardboard pieces into pockets by folding them in half. 3) Now to turn them into sliding folders. Get some wooden dowels roughly 500mm long (i used 3mm diameter). You'll need 2 per folder. 4) Fold over the top 30mm of each free end of the pocket. The dowels go in this fold. Staple them down so that the dowels stay in the fold. (you'll need to give the stapler a good bash depending on the thickness of the cardboard) Repeat for as many folders as you require. Done! Put your A3 sheets in the pockets and enjoy a more organised sliding filing system.
