I needed a 9 pin VGA / D-sub type connector for a printer wiring loom i'm working on. I saw Gary Hodgsons http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10456 which was nice - but too fragile and a bit clunky (because it needs vitamins.) This is a ground-up remodel inspired by that, but utilising http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:33790 so that it'll snap-fit together. this should be a lot stronger than thing:10456 with the added advantage that it should print lovely in PLA! This should also scale in the X/Y nicely so that it can easily tweaked for multi-pin serial and parallel ports... I'm marking Gary's :10456 down as a derivative, even though it's not - as it was clear inspiration for this design. Also thanks to Tbuser and Emmett for the work they've done on the pins - that made life 100 fold easier... :)Print 2x Snap together (around your pre-soldered plug, duh!) Plug in! I recommend 0.2mm layer height, or thereabouts, Min. 2 perimeters - pref 3. for the strength. 30% infill (ish) and print in PLA! Always PLA!
