When you buy some filaments, especially pricier ones that come in smaller quantities, they sometimes come without a spool. Some spools are too large to fit inside on the filament mount - and once you've used a good chunk of it, still having a giant honking spool is an annoyance. I wanted a spool that was easy and fairly quick to load and which would store compactly (my Dreamer lives on my sailboat - and space is always at a premium on boats). This spool is built to hang on the internal spool mount for the Dreamer but will probably work for others with little or no modification.Since I needed a spool, and wanted a nice compact one, I drew one up and printed it. This spool prints in two pieces - printing as a single piece would take many times as much time on most filament printers because of the amount of support needed. I glued mine together with Loctite Plastic Bonder. They slide together and align easily because of the notched center of the spindle. The photo shows about 1/8kg of Laywoo-d3 on one mounted in the Dreamer. The included ".c4d" file is the Cinema4D scene file that I designed the spool in.
