This is an electronics enclosure designed for a MakerGear M2 retrofitted with a Smoothieboard controller. Features include a snap-on lid that releases easily by pushing the latches on the side; ample cut-outs for air flow, cut-outs for the USB and ethernet ports, and the microSD card, and even a hole in the lid for access to the reset button using a small allen wrench.Full instructions on how to retrofit a MakerGear M2 with a Smoothieboard controller are posted on the MakerGear forum site at http://forum.makergear.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2248. Whether you would actually want to retrofit an M2 with a Smoothieboard is all part of the discussion. However, for anyone who decides to do so, this enclosure is a perfect fit for both the M2 and the controller board. The box rests on the bottom of the frame and attaches to the side with the two existing screws used for the RAMBo controller. The fan screws to the lid, also with existing hardware. The Smoothieboard sits snugly on internal ledges and posts and does not need to be screwed down. Although there are a few overhangs in the design, it should print without needing support. I printed mine in eSUN black PETg from Intservo; you can't go wrong with that choice! The best approach is to print the box first, then mount it on the M2; and based on how all the wires are arranged, choose the best position for the fan so that it is in a relatively uncluttered spot, where wires won't be pushing up against it. Then edit the openSCAD source for the lid and change the fan X and Y positions accordingly.
