Lately, I've been experimenting with using modeling epoxy, speckling paste and even paper mache as a surface smoother for my 3D prints.
For the small jobs I needed some tools akin to what clay sculptors use to apply, smooth and even out the material that I put on top of my 3D prints.
Which is why I though of designing these babies...I made my tools using PLA at 0.2mm height with 2 shells and 30% infill. Almost all the tools will require re-orientation to the long axis of the MakerBot.
If you need to make the tools smaller, merely resize the tools using the scale feature of MakerWare.
The tools can be used as-is after 3D printing but I have thought of priming them with a few coats of filler-primer, optionally painting them and then putting on a protective clear coat.
