Our real wedding rings! They started their life in Google Sketchup ;-)We realized these rings in Palladium/Gold with our great jeweller, advisor, coordinator, and enabler of this all, Jerry Lake, at Lustre Precious Gems, San Jose. www.lustrepearls.comThe files were sent out as STL after quite a bit of prototyping and testing using Shapeways, gradually climbing up the ladder of materials from nylon, Objet-resin, to stainless and sterling silver, before having the "real thing" cast at a good goldsmith's. Although we didn’t use them at the end in favor of a local goldsmith, the guys at http://www.castinghouse.com/ say that they “cast daily in over 40 [precious metal] alloys†from supplied STL files. Sounds like a nice complementary path, that seemlessly takes over from where Shapeways fades out, materials wise…Shapeways: http://www.shapeways.com/model/231884/rings_his_hers_19_17mm_5_6_4_6mm_xy_z_scaled.html?gid=sg31325
