Simple functional wall-mounted spool holder. Spool holder also functions un-mounted. I wanted a spool holder that was printable but did not consume too much plastic. Mounting the spool on the wall also makes great use of vertical space and keeps my desk less cluttered. This holder can easily support a 1kg spool on plaster board (dry-wall). Requires some nuts, bolts and nails easily sourced from any hardware store. I have also included spool-608 bearing adaptors for colorfabb and makergeeks spools, filaments that I currently use. These adaptors allow the spool to rotate smoothly on the rod shaft. 608 bearings were sourced from ebay.Print: My print settings: slicer: simplify3D shells: 3 solid layers: 2 infil: 15 % extrusion width: 0.4 mm layer height: 0.3 mm printer: Printrbot simple metal Non-printed parts: Spool holder assembly: Mounting the wall hook: Hang spool holder on wall. Insert 3rd threaded rod through spool and mount on spool holder. (Use of spool-608 bearing adaptor is optional but recommended) If you want to stand the spool on a desk, adding some blu-tak or poster putty under the "feet" makes for a great non-slip surface.
