after i had a mishap with my original effector and probe mount (i do not recommend printing in ABS when the parts of the printer are made with PLA! especially during a heatwave in NYC!); i decided to try my hand at improving the design. this design incorporates the new auto leveling probe mechanism with the existing effector for the kossel delta bot (http://github.com/jcrocholl/kossel). this design is also modified to accept the seemecnc bowden hotened (iirc it is a 12 mm hole ideally with a plastic washer to allow it to be tightened) for an idea of how the device works please check out johann crocholl's flickr page showing the completed probe: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcrocholl/8873520864/ the design is on tinkercad for those who wish to edit it: http://tinkercad.com/things/5g9steqnNm6-kossel-effector-with-integrated-retractable-probe this also requires that you use the latest kossel firmware and figure out which pin you will use as the z min endstop trigger. be careful as the code is still quite new and has a few bugs: specifcally i had to remove the "auto deployment/retract" feature where it flips the probe down and then presses it back in. ideally this is a good mod for people who already have the probe working and would like to make their printer a bit more streamlined. ymmv! all that said the auto leveling feature is a godsend when printing with a delta, as the leveling process can be pretty tricky. since i've got it working however my first layers have been pretty much flawless!
