This is an update of my Pottery Barn soap dish. As you can see from the pictures it has been broken several times, but cannot be replaced because it is discontinued. I\'m trying to make an unbreakable replacement.I managed to do all of the modeling parametrically this time, so there shouldn\'t be any mesh-related weirdness.Half is modeled to accomodate the Makerbot's build area. Print 2 and glue them together with ABS cement from the plumbing aisle. ABS pipe cement is just acetone with ABS plastic melted in it. Thin the cement with acetone, and dip the dish to create a smooth surface. Alternate between sanding and filling with a brush or dipping to hide the seam and create a smooth surface. The ABS cement is goopy, and is good for filling. A thinner solution is better for smoothing. If you need a color other than black, you can make your own cement. Use a grinder and your ABS filament to make shavings or powder, and mix it with acetone.I finished this dish with several coats of sprayed on white plastidip to give it a smooth, slightly rubbery surface.
