The AirVortex3D solves the problem of slumping when printing with metal clay or other paste-like materials. The BRONZclay3D is a mix of bronze powder (90% Copper, 10% Tin), water, binder and other non-toxic materials. Once fired, the bronze sinters into a solid metal object that has the same properties as cast bronze. It malleable, drillable, and has all of the properties you would expect with bronze metal. When polished it looks similar to 18K gold. The AirVortex3D is shown attached to the Mini Metal Maker. The collapsed cylinder shown are printing without the AirVortex3D turned on. One photo shows 3 cylinders, first has no air and no heat, second shows air with no heat, and the third shows what the AirVortex3D can produce with air and heat. The AirVortex3D was printed on an UP! with no raft, and has rare earth magnets that hold it to the Mini Metal Maker printer. The blower is a 12 volt 2 watt Sunon maglev GB1205PHVX-8AY the halogen lamp is 12 volt 5 watt with a G4 base, and mounted on the ceramic G4 lamp holder. The blower is super glued to the AirVortex3D, and the lamp holder fits by friction. Note that a 10 watt lamp gives too much heat causing the nozzle to clog. With a 5 watt, there is about a 5 degree C rise in the exit temperature which dries the clay soon after extrusion. The blower is mounted so that the warm air exiting swirls at about 70 RPM allowing drying without distortion of the clay.
