In 2008 the general circulation coins of the United Kingdom were changed for a puzzle design. These coins was created by Matt Dent after a public competition. He created a design based on the Royal Shield of Arms, but few people realize that you can piece together the complete shield design as seen on the £1 coin using the other coins in the series. The major design feature was the introduction of a reverse design shared across six coins (1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p), that can be pieced together to form an image of the Royal Shield. This was the first time a coin design had been featured across multiple coins in this way. Upon returning from my trip to England and Wales, I wanted to display my UK coins as designed as a puzzle and thus the coin holder was designed and 3D printed.Download the .stl file and 3D print. Obtain the six United Kingdom coins and place together to form the Royal Shield of Arms. The coins should be places from top left in a clockwise direction, 10p, 2p, 20p, 50p, and 1p. The 5p is placed in the center.
