Platonic solids, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platonic_solid, are beautiful objects because of their symmetry and simplicity. Combining wood and 3d printed connectors makes it easy to create these polyhedrons yourself!I printed the full set of 5 for a school in India. They now use them for the advanced geometry classes and as a decoration in the math classroom. When you have wood of diameter 6mm for the edges lying around, then you're lucky! Just print the STL's added. Otherwise use the SCAD config to change the dimensions. For a tetrahedron you need to print 4 connectors and saw 6 edges For a cube you need to print 8 connectors and saw 12 edges For an octahedron you need to print 6 connectors and saw 12 edges For a dodecahedron you need to print 20 connectors and saw 30 edges For an icosahedron you need to print 12 connectors and saw 30 edgesI used a pencil sharpener to tidy the ends of the edges.
