It's official, a gourmet burger is 4-1/2" (115mm) in diameter and has an indention in the middle of both sides to compensate for middle swell while cooking. Of all the presses I found, none met this criteria. So here it is! Simply print the housing and two inserts. No handle needed, easy storage. Enjoy the gourmet sized burger! 6-22-15: Added version 2 of the insert which is a little wider and the bevel slope less steep. Meat displacement is about the same, just a smoother pattern in the meat..PLA at 100%, on glass, light hairspray. Made burgers with ours today, they came out great. My first print at 20% fill got fluid inside of it after using it. If I didn't use clear, I might not have noticed it. So regardless of color, 100% fill is the recommendation for sanitary reasons. UPDATE: Even at 100%, my print let fluid get inside of it. Then before tossing it away we threw it in the dishwasher to see what would happen. I can now confirm 3D prints are not dishwasher safe! I'll leave the files out there, maybe other printers will have better success with this.
