This grater was designed specifically for making Chinese-style mung bean noodles (liangfen, or, more specifically, the Sichuan dish beichuan liangfen), but can also serve as a general-purpose grating tool. Holes are about 5mm in diameter at the scale of the STL file. Includes a handle for stable gripping. Prints without support.Because this grater is in direct contact with food, it should be printed with a food-safe filament such as PET. PET (and its variants such as PET+ and PETg) withstands high enough temperatures to be dishwasher-safe. Print as oriented in the STL file, which is also the orientation shown in the photos, and it will print without the need for support structures. Minimum wall thickness is about 1mm, or two filament widths, so it is unlikely that it can be reduced much in size without compromising the integrity of the structure. This grater is specifically designed for making Chinese mung-bean noodles, called "liangfen". Starting with mung bean starch, which can be obtained from Asian food stores, follow the instructions to make a block with a gelatin-like consistency. Run the grater across the block to strip off noodles. Add hot sauce and serve cold. A good set of instructions for making beichuan liangfen is: http://www.chinasichuanfood.com/liangfen-chinese-jelly-noodles/ Undoubtedly this grater has other good uses too.
