This is an offset plate to easily adjust the balance of a camera (or different ones) on a gimbal. My 3-Axis camera gimbal's plate is mounted on the horizontal rod instead of a cage so adjusting the camera (or hotshot plate) gets very troublesome just for minute adjustments. This raises the set up a couple of centimetres above that plate (but secured to it by two tripod screws) and allows sliding to the millimetre and secured in place with two small screws in the side.
