Yet another soccer ball. This inspired by the Modern Elements lamp shade, and driven by my desire to learn OpenSCAD. The plates print well on my Felix 2.0 . Print without supports. No need to trim anything. The hinges should be free to move right off the print bed. If you need adjustment because the tab hinges are too tight, open the scad file. You can adjust the variables tabthick to adjust the tab thickness and tabshift to make the tabs longer if the tabs are not flexible enough. The tab thickness value in the file is 1.2, and given the 0.38 extrusion width that I have, Sfact leaves the center of the tab unfilled and that makes the tab easy to bend while assembling. The scad file also has a module for generating any regular polygons of side length 25mm. That will be extracted for another customizable thing. If you have a plate large enough, print: You'll end up with an extra pentagon-hexagon-hexagon chain. Keep that as spare or you can remove one from your last plate. Or if you don't, print 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. Arrange them as shown in one of pictures in the gallery and snap them together. Pay attention to lining up the adjacent edges.
